Product answer

What moves from an Attorney Workpaper into DocketBuddy Preflight?

The handoff carries the selected DocketBuddy Preflight destination and the attribution that explains where the visit began. It does not carry the facts typed into the Attorney Workpaper. Those facts remain browser-local and are not saved to the new account.

Review note
The browser-local fact boundary, sign-in handoff, private Preflight scope, and linked product path were checked against the current DocketBuddy build.
DocketBuddy handoff from an Attorney Workpaper to a private Preflight

Fictional sample data shown; no client information

What continues through sign-in

DocketBuddy remembers which named Preflight the attorney selected and enough privacy-safe attribution to measure the path from the public workpaper. After sign-in, the attorney arrives at that Preflight inside the firm workspace.

  • Selected Preflight destination
  • Originating workpaper identifier
  • Privacy-safe visit attribution

What does not continue

Names, dates, amounts, answers, notes, and other facts entered in the anonymous workpaper do not pass through sign-in. They remain in the browser session. The attorney can save the workpaper output locally before continuing.

How the private check begins

Inside DocketBuddy, the attorney selects or creates the matter, confirms the named Preflight, and uploads the files needed for that check. The resulting findings belong to the authorized firm record and can continue into Ready or PracticeOS.

Questions

Will I need to enter workpaper facts again after sign-in?

The anonymous workpaper facts are not copied into the account. Preflight begins from the private matter and uploaded files needed for the selected check.

Why preserve the destination but not the facts?

The destination keeps the handoff useful, while keeping anonymous matter facts browser-local prevents them from becoming account data without the attorney deliberately adding them to the firm workspace.
